  1. I find the W (wait for dialtone) command very useful in accessing
  2. a particular modem pool. I was able to use W on my old Global Village 
  3. (Mac-only) modem, but my new US Robotics "Sportster 28.8 V.34 and 33.6 
  4. FAXmodem" doesn't seem to have it. The manual mentions the X2 or X4 
  5. commands, combined with setting the S6 register. I've tried all that, 
  6. but still can't get the modem to wait for dialtone using the W command. 
  7. Instead, when it encounters the W, it disconnects! Has anyone been able 
  8. to use W, or know whether it was deleted from the new "33.6" version of 
  9. the Sportster?
